Taylor’s University

Taylor’s University is the No. 1 private university in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, ranked #332 in the QS World University Rankings 2022. This ranking places the university among the top 1.3% of global universities, and 10th among all Asian private universities.

The university comes in at #49 in the 2021 edition of the QS Top 50 Under 50 World University Rankings, which ranks the world’s best young universities under 50 years old. This is yet another remarkable honour, as Taylor’s is the top and only Malaysian private university in this listing. Taylor’s University is also ranked 89th in the QS Asian University Rankings 2021. It is one of few Asian universities rated 5 Stars for Online Learning, a heartening acknowledgement of the brand’s dedication to making education engaging, effective, and relevant. The university also has 5-Stars rating in six other categories of the QS Stars University Ratings: Teaching, Internationalisation, Employability, Inclusiveness, Facilities, and Hospitality & Leisure Management.

Taylor’s University is also ranked 17th in the world for Hospitality & Leisure Management and Top 150 for Business & Management Studies making Taylor’s Business School the top private business school in Malaysia based on the 2021 QS World Rankings by Subject.

Professor Dr Pradeep Nair has been in Higher Education sector for over 27 years. He has held various key positions including Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Taylor’s College Petaling Jaya & Taylor’s Business School; and COO of Taylor’s School of Hospitality & Tourism before being appointed to his current position in 2009.

Focusing on innovation in higher education, Pradeep has led numerous institutional turnarounds and pioneered new initiatives at Taylor’s University including the introduction of dual award degrees with renowned universities in the UK, Australia and France, SHINE Award Programme, the 2nd Transcript, X-Space Classrooms of the Future, ReWIND Lecture Capture System, Learning Analytics, Teaching Engagement Scale and Faculty Track System, among others.

Pradeep is the co-founder of the Tourism Educators Association of Malaysia (TEAM), Founding President of the ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ATRA) and currently the Deputy President of the Malaysian Association of Private Universities and Colleges.

In 2012 he was awarded the World Education Congress Leadership Excellence Award for Exemplary Leadership in Higher Education, and also being selected as one of the Top 100 Personalities in Hospitality by Hospitality Asia Magazine in 2008.

For his contributions to TH&E education, in particular the setting up of the National Hotel Industry Apprenticeship Scheme, he received the PATA Gold Award for Education and Training and, later, the title KMN (Officer of the Order of the Defender of the Realm) by His Majesty, the King of Malaysia. In 2014, he became the first Asian to be made a Fellow of the International Centre of Excellence (THE-ICE) in Tourism and Hospitality Education. In 2015, he awarded the National Outstanding Educator Award (University Category) for his contributions to private higher education in Malaysia. In 2016, he was made Officer for the l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques, by French Government. This is a national order of France for distinguished academics and figures in the world of culture and education.

Leaping 47 ranks to #332 in the QS World University Rankings 2022, we are now placed among the top 1.1% of the most influential universities globally. We are now ranked at #53 in Asia according to the QS Asia University Rankings 2022, leaping 36 places from the previous year and over 140 places throughout the past seven years.

Taylor’s University ranked 16th in the world for the Hospitality and Leisure Management subject in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022, defending its position as the highest-ranked Malaysian university in the world for the fifth time in a row. This places the institution alongside institutions renowned in the hospitality sector such as Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland, University of Nevada Las Vegas, as well as Swiss Hotel Management School, Switzerland. The university also broke into Top 100 in the world to rank #97 for Business and Management Studies, making it the top private business school in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
