NSP priorities for malaria as to improve quality of and access to early diagnosis and effective treatment of malaria, surveillance and active case detection, eliminate the existing active foci, activities focused on imported malaria, engaging private sectors, strengthen programmatic technical and managerial capacities towards malaria elimination. Global fund investment is focused on malaria elimination activities, strengthen community testing and treatment.

Key interventions under Global Fund grant highlights following:

  • Malaria risk stratification,  MDIS, entomology, vector bionomics and behaviors,  vector susceptibility study, IRS susceptibility test
  • Ensure universal early quality  diagnostic testing and complete treatment
  • Integrated Vector Management, universal coverage of LLINs in high and moderate risk areas (Mass & Continuous), IRS as focal response
  • Awareness Raising  and prevention activities in vulnerable  risk areas including  origin and transit for people migrating
  • Private Sector Engagement
  • Targeted evidence based BCC and to engage community
  • Building capacities of health institutions/workers towards malaria elimination

Malaria microstratification involves that there are 49 high risk wards, 153 moderate risk wards, 2543 low risk wards and 20 high and moderate wards. There has been relative proportion of imported cases increasing. Malaria testing during past 3 years has been increasing, also number of LLINs distribution has been increased.
